Have you seen Captain Nice and the Nicesters sneaking around the Rossetti Center, spreading kindness wherever they go?
Throughout the year, CTE teachers have been working in Book Study Groups, and a number of teachers read The Power of Nice, by Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval. It was a book recommended by Mary Maitland, and it focuses on companies and people who are nice, cooperative and fair are often more successful, have better employee retention and satisfaction and higher productivity.
To highlight the lessons in this book, teachers decided to forego a traditional culminating presentation and instead create Captain Nice and the Nicesters. Their first act of kindness was recognizing others – they left thank you cards on colleagues’ desks along with bags of seeds that read “plant seeds of kindness.”
Look out for more Nice-ness over these last few weeks.
